Mark Abbott – Managing Director
Mark is an experienced geophysicist and founding Director of Egdon Resources plc. He graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1985 with a degree in Exploration Sciences (Geology/ Geophysics/Mining Engineering). He worked for the British Geological Survey from 1985 to 1992 in the UK and overseas. Between 1992 and 1996 he worked in the International Division of British Gas Exploration and Production Limited and was employed by Anadarko Algeria Corporation from 1996 to 1997. He is a council member of UKOOG and a trustee of the UK Onshore Geophysical Library. He is also a Director of MA Exploration Services Limited, Bishopswood Pavilion Limited.
Philip Stephens – Chairman (Non-Executive)
Philip is a corporate financier with 38 years of City experience. Philip is currently Chairman of Neptune-Calculus Income and Growth VCT plc and Chairman of Foresight 4 VCT plc. He was joint head of the corporate finance department of stockbrokers Williams de Broe for four years until his retirement in 2002 and before that was head of UK corporate finance at UBS from 1995, having joined in 1989. Philip is a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committee.
Martin Durham – Technical Director
Martin graduated from the University of Wales in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and also holds a Master of Science Degree in Petroleum Geology from Imperial College, London University (1982). Martin has significant industry experience gained through companies including the Louisiana Land and Exploration Inc, LASMO Plc, Eni and Northern Petroleum Plc. During this time he has held senior technical and management roles for exploration and field development projects. Martin was a founding director of Union Jack Oil Plc a position he held until his appointment to Egdon in September 2014. Martin is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and in 2012 he was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB). Martin currently holds the role of PESGB President.
Walter Roberts – Company Secretary and Non-Executive
Walter is an oil and gas lawyer with an engineering background. He qualified as a solicitor with Simmons & Simmons before joining Phillips Petroleum in 1980. In 1986 he set up the legal department for Lasmo in Australia and later became the principal UK joint venture negotiator for Talisman. He is an Executive Director of Pinnacle Energy Limited. Walter is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.
Ken Ratcliff – Non-Executive Director
Ken is a chartered accountant with extensive finance and business experience. He is the co-founder and former Accountant at Geokinetics Processing UK Limited. Ken has previously held senior management positions with GDC UK Limited, Ensign Geophysics Limited, Seismic Geocode Limited, Tenneco Corporation and Merlin Geophysical Limited and was until recently Chairman of InfraStrata plc . Ken is Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee.
Andrew Lodge – Non-Executive Director
A highly experienced geoscientist and manager. Andrew recently retired as Exploration Director of Premier Oil plc. Prior to joining Premier in 2009, Andrew was Vice President – Exploration at Hess, where he was responsible for Europe, North Africa, Asia and Australia. Previously, he was Vice President – Exploration, Asset Manager and Group Exploration Advisor for BHP Petroleum. Prior to joining BHP Petroleum, he worked for BP as a geophysicist.
James Elston – Commercial and Business Development Director
James has 28 years’ experience in Industry, Banking and Consulting. Former CEO of TSX-V listed Realm Energy International Co. 2009/10 driving the company’s acquisition of a significant acreage position for shale gas and tight oil in Europe following in depth basin by basin technical review and ranking. Spent initial 5 years working onshore E & P as an engineer at NAM bv in The Netherlands.
Martin Brooks – HSE and Production Manager
Martin worked in various industries in the implementation and management of specific Production, Health, Safety and Environmental mechanisms and ensuring compliance with ISO14001, prior to joining Egdon in 2007. He now has over 7 years’ experience of managing onshore oil and gas production activities including commissioning the Kirkleatham gas field development. He oversees Egdon’s Planning and Environmental Permitting for the company’s UK onshore drilling activities and is also responsible for developing and implementing the Company’s HSE Management Systems at both corporate and site-specific levels.
